April Cohort Highlights: Firsts, Family, and Fresh Starts
Our April WorkAdvance cohort was full of powerful moments, new milestones, and inspiring steps forward. These aren’t just training sessions—they’re life-changing opportunities. And April reminded us just how impactful this program continues to be across Hancock County.
👨👦 First Father-Son Duo
This month, we celebrated a WorkAdvance first—a father and son who trained, graduated, and sat for their Certified Manufacturing Associate exam side by side! Watching them learn together, challenge each other, and succeed as a team was a highlight of the cohort.
This follows another meaningful moment from previous cohorts, when a daughter convinced her mom to take the training after her own success. Now, both mother and daughter are proud graduates. At WorkAdvance, we’re building more than careers—we’re building legacies.
📘 A New Path with Purpose
One graduate shared his decision to pursue his GED through Owens Community College, inspired by the encouragement and momentum gained during WorkAdvance. The courage it takes to start over is no small thing. This bold step reminds us all that there is always room for second chances.
🎓 Certification & Next Steps
Five graduates from this cohort sat for their Certified Manufacturing Associate certification, proctored by our very own Wil Schroeder. These graduates are on their way to Good Jobs in Hancock County, and their journey doesn’t stop here.
Alissa Ibarra, WorkAdvance Coach and team member at the Financial Opportunity Center of Findlay Habitat for Humanity, shared her excitement about continuing to walk alongside these new CMAs as they move into placement and meaningful work.
“These graduates have what it takes. They’ve already proven it. And now, we help them take the next step.” – Alissa Ibarra
