Continuing the Momentum

Cohort 18

With every new class, the WorkAdvance Findlay program continues to prove its impact—helping local residents build confidence, learn valuable skills, and take meaningful steps toward their next good job. Our 18th cohort carried that mission forward with pride, purpose, and results that speak for themselves.

All three graduates of this most recent session completed the full Tooling-U Manufacturing Fundamentals training and then sat for their first attempt at the Certified Manufacturing Associate (CMfgA) certification exam. Two of the three passed on their first try, and one individual earned an impressive 90 percent score—a reflection of both their effort and the high-quality instruction that defines every WorkAdvance training session.

The Numbers Tell a Story

Since its launch, WorkAdvance Findlay has accepted 148 participants, and 80% of those have completed the program, which is a remarkable success rate that reflects the commitment of both participants and instructors alike. The program’s mission has always been simple but powerful: to connect good people with good jobs.

To date, 59 WorkAdvance graduates have already been placed into local, high-quality jobs, many with competitive pay, opportunities for advancement, and supportive teams that value their growth. Behind each of those numbers is a personal story—of persistence, resilience, and new beginnings.

A Program That Works

WorkAdvance Findlay is a free, two-week training program designed to help individuals gain industry-specific skills, prepare for in-demand careers, and overcome barriers to employment. Whether participants are seeking a fresh start, a career change, or simply a way to build their confidence in a professional setting, WorkAdvance meets them where they are and helps them move forward.

Through partnerships with Owens Community College, the Financial Opportunity Center at Habitat for Humanity, and numerous local employers, the program provides not just classroom training but also ongoing support after graduation. Graduates have access to job placement services, financial coaching, and career guidance to help them navigate their next steps with confidence.

Looking Ahead

As 2025 comes to a close, the WorkAdvance Findlay team is preparing for its final cohort of the year, beginning December 1 at Owens Community College Findlay Campus. This upcoming session represents the final opportunity of the year for local residents to take advantage of this transformative program and join the growing list of graduates now working in manufacturing and related industries across Hancock County.

If you know someone who deserves a second chance, a leg up, or a chance to find stability and purpose through meaningful work, encourage them to apply. WorkAdvance Findlay continues to open doors—one training, one graduate, and one good job at a time.
