A New Path Forward: Celebrating Our First Social Services WorkAdvance Cohort

We’re proud to share that our first WorkAdvance Social Services training cohort has officially graduated! This incredible group of eight individuals came from a variety of backgrounds but shared a common goal—to start or restart a meaningful career in health and human services.

Just like our manufacturing pathway, this free two-week training focused on preparing participants for in-demand careers through a mix of professional development and personalized support. Graduates completed hours of training in:

  • Interpersonal communication skills

  • Job readiness evaluation

  • Career and personality assessments

  • Resume refinement and mock interview prep

Our dedicated instructors guided each participant through the process, ensuring they were not only prepared for employment but equipped with the confidence to pursue it.

As part of their training, the cohort also had the opportunity to meet with local employers, including:

🔹 Kandu Group, which offers roles supporting adults with developmental disabilities through day habilitation programs, including art-based therapeutic activities and other community support services.

🔹 The Family Resource Center, which frequently hires for case managers, peer support professionals, and vehicle technicians—all roles aligned with the training this group received.

Now, the WorkAdvance team will continue working closely with these graduates to match them with potential employers, schedule interviews, and support them every step of the way toward securing a good job.

This first step into the social services sector has shown just how adaptable and impactful the WorkAdvance model can be. Whether someone is seeking a second chance, exploring a new career path, or looking to re-enter the workforce with refreshed skills, this program continues to meet people where they are and help them move forward.
